Niamh McGowan’s first priorities on the Council are to: A personal message from Cllr Niamh McGowan I am writing to say a big thank you to all the people who voted for me in the local elections. My election to Meath County Council as a first-time candidate is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of my campaign team. It is also a mark of approval for the Labour Party’s policies both locally and nationally. The people of Dunshaughlin, Ashbourne, Ratoath and Dunboyne have put their faith in me and I fully intend to repay that faith. During the campaign, I highlighted the need for open local government and, along with my Labour colleagues, will push for a range of measures to bring more accountability to the workings of Meath County Council. I will also work with residents to force developers to uphold their responsibilities to those who bought houses from them. Too many estates are incomplete and in some cases unsafe. The county council also has a role in relation to this and the bad state of the roads. I will work with the relevant staff on your behalf to help address these issues. I will continue to campaign for improvements to the area such as a social welfare office and better public transport including more bus stops. Finally, I am delighted to have the privilege to serve the people of South Meath. If there are any issues you want to raise please contact me by phone, post or email. I look forward to hearing from you. If anyone wants to contact me about any local issue they can contact me on 086-2244666 and/or by email at niamhformeath@gmail.com
